Joint Walk With London Hiking Dykes.
20th August 2017
This is a linear walk from St Neots Station to Huntingdon station mostly along the River Ouse.
Starting at St Neots station at 11.14am to meet the train from London. It’s best to park at the station as some of the nearby streets are residents only. Get the train back to St Neots at end of walk or arrange for someone to leave a car at Huntingdon. Train takes 8 minutes and costs £2.40, but they are only one an hour.
We’ll walk through Little Paxton nature reserve and then along the river to Huntingdon where we cross Port Holme, one of the largest areas of grassland in the UK that is still traditionally managed as a water meadow. It’s about 12 miles. If anyone wants to do a shorter walk let me know as it might be possible to just walk as far as Offord Cluny.
If it’s warm enough there are some nice places to swim between Little Paxton and Offord Cluny so bring towel and costume if you like freshwater swimming.
Bring packed lunch as no pub stop, but we can stop at the cafe at Little Paxton. I think it only sells tea, coffee and cake.
